Actually, the reason most people think a large update is coming up is because of this post on the wiki, on Linsey Murdock's journal page:

I have enough ecto and 1/3 of the shards I need to get my Derv her FoW skirt. Still no where near enough cash to get my Warrior her Vabbian though. At least I finally realized that I like my Necro best in Shing Jea so I don't have to get her Vabbian too.

Work has been crazy for me this week. Trying to get everything ready for the next build, which barring complications, should be out next week. Plus working on getting things rolling on the stuff planned for next month. Right now I'm working on writing up the Dev Update for all the changes incoming. I don't know if I can actually explain all the thoughts behind the stuff we are doing, but we'll see. If people have questions, which I'm sure they will, I would be happy to answer them here once it's Live. Man, it's going to be one monster of an update. Should be interesting. Heh.

I've started to get more and more messaged in game from random people which can be both cool and awkward. I hope people aren't expecting me to remember everyone I talk to throughout the day. My friends list has been full for a long time so I can't really add more people to be able to recognize all the alts they have too. I'm not unfamiliar with talking to people I don't know, just not when they act like they know me. That part is where the weirdness comes from. Oh, and for those people that do message me in game, I have taken to idling a lot on Live, so if you message me and I don't get back to you for a while it's because I just didn't notice since I was off working. Same goes from if I am not super chatty. Just trying to get work done.

Oh and it cracks me up when someone messages me asking who I am cuz I'm on their friends list and they don't remember if they played with me or not. One guy was VERY insistent that he ONLY adds people he plays with. I haven't pugged anything in a very very long time so I assured him that it was highly unlikely that we have played together. That wasn't really something he was willing to accept. *shrug*
I think it's safe to say that it'll be more than just a skill balance update. To see how much more, we'll just have to wait.

That would be cool but probably wouldn't work with how they are prolly planning their HoM reward system.

Someone could put like 15 pre-searing weapons in there and get the best weapon unlock, etc.

Default Ladies and Germs watch out for news on HoM

what if I have like 10 fully completed characters later on, do I get more rewards then those lazy people who don't want to bring their 10 characters thru the whole thing?

:P

"Guild Wars 2 Unlocks

Aside from the switch to account-based accomplishments, this has not changed. You will be able to add to the Hall of Monuments in the original Guild Wars even after the release of Guild Wars 2, and any newly unlocked accomplishments will then be visible in Guild Wars 2. We will provide more information about the exact rewards for each Hall of Monuments accomplishment as we get closer to the release of Guild Wars 2. "

when ever we hear more news on the HoM the closer we will get to GW2 release??

By lazy you mean someone that does not want to waste their life on a video game filling up 10 HoMs. Unfortunately all your "hard work" will not give you any benefit over a player who did not do a Hall of Monuments. You will probably just get a "uniquely" skinned item with the same stats as what someone new to GW will be able to access. Perhaps a minipet or some other token for your hard work which provides no actual benefit.

You'll have to wait till late 2009, early 2010 for GW2 release.

Even though that's all I've ever been expecting out of the HoM, those skins and non-beneficial rewards had better be damned awesome. I'll be so pissed off if the skins are ugly or unimpressive compared to what the general public can get in GW2.

Something like the Divine Aura of the Prophesies CE would be really nice too. Or even a special dance that only HoM accounts can use would be great! ^_^

Well with the "Monster update" people were thinking it was the skill balance + HoM. Guess it just a skill balance, not so monsterous anymore.

Also if you remember they ended up changing the Armor Monument in one week after seeing all the QQ from the preview weekend. I think that why people thought a month was enough time:P. Also HoM is GW2 content afterall.

Do you hear that?

It's the sound of loads of QQers QQing because the speculation made them believe that this was defo coming in the next update.....and then they got crushed in one sentence >_>

I'm still rather interested in this next update, now that we know its not the HoM, what will be changing. I assume alot of skills, Linsey at one point inplied that there would be monster changing (which may mean the chaos planes monsters that people QQed about last time >_> )

Thanks for letting us know Regina
